Hardware Purchasing

This page outlines the standard operating procedures for purchasing technology hardware within the College of Performance, Visualization and Fine Arts (PVFA). All university-funded hardware purchases must comply with Texas A&M University IT governance, security compliance including Texas Risk and Authorization Management Program - TX-RAMP, and asset management requirements.

Due to limited resources TSPVFA are not able to effectively support models outside the product lines on this page.

This is primarily because of the complexities in maintaining images/deployment settings, each additional model requires significant initial and ongoing effort to keep up with drivers and model specific configurations to meet University requirements.

If there is a need to have a model for a specific use case a TSPVFA Partially Managed TCP would need to be filed in conjunction with the purchase.

Lenovo​

TSPVFA recommends the use of Lenovo "P series" for both Windows and Linux applications and also utilize their ThinkVision monitors and accessories.

  • These are ISV Certified devices, additional software compatibility testing is performed by TSPVFA to ensure these devices work with all university software & systems
  • There is a expedited warranty relationship to get fixes completed quickly
    • Lenovo 4 year Premier Support Plus on all hardware
