General Information

  • Issues may occur after a NetID password reset when the local Mac account has not yet synced with the new password.
  • This guide provides two stages of fixes. Start with Stage 1 Fix before proceeding to Stage 2 Fix if the issue persists.
  • Escalate to the Mac Sys Admin if the issues persist.

Simple Troubleshooting

  1. Connect the Mac to Ethernet
  2. At the login screen, have the user try both:
  3. Their old password
  4. Their new password
  5. Ensure they attempt login using NetID credentials only.
  6. It will not require @tamu.edu
  7. If they are still unable to log in, proceed to Advanced Troubleshooting

Advanced Troubleshooting

  1. Log into your user account or to the local jamfadmin account
  2. Elevate your account to admin using the Privileges tool in the Gig 'Em (Support Hub)

  1. Go to System Settings --> Users & Groups

  1. Locate the user having issues, then click the "i" button next to their name

  1. Under Password, select Reset

  1. Enter the user's new NetID password as the password, then retype it in Verify

  1. Log out of your account
  2. Have the user sign in locally with the NetID and new password
  3. After login, click the A&M logo in the top right menu bar
