PVFA Research & Institute Technology Control Plan RACI (PVFA_RITCP)
General Information
A RACI matrix (or Responsibility Assignment Matrix) is a simple chart used in project management to clarify roles and responsibilities. It ensures that everyone knows who is doing what, preventing confusion and overlapping work. One of these will be generated for each of the options offered.
The acronym stands for:
- Responsible: The person who actually performs the work. They are the "doer" of the task.
- Accountable: The one person ultimately answerable for the correct and thorough completion of the task.
- Consulted: People whose opinions are sought before or during the work. This is a two-way communication.
- Informed: People who are kept up-to-date on progress or completion. This is a one-way communication.
Why use it? It is particularly effective at eliminating "siloed" working and preventing the common project pitfall where everyone assumes someone else is handling a specific item. By mapping these out in a table, teams can identify if one person is over-allocated (too many Rs) or if there are too many "cooks in the kitchen" (too many Cs).

Technology Services - PVFA will alert the Research Group to issues as discovered by our monitoring platforms but all responsibility to fix the issues is on the Research or Institute group and report back to Technology Services when remediations are complete so we can verify the remediations were effective.

Technology Services - PVFA will alert the Research Group and 3rd party vendor to issues as discovered by our monitoring platforms but all responsibility to fix the issues would be defined in the contract between the Research or Institute group and the 3rd party vendor, once remediations are complete the Research or Institute group would have the responsibility to notify Technology Services so we can verify the remediations were effective.
